Schumer: Dems slicing budget with scalpel, Tea Party using meat ax

They have until the end of the week to finally figure it out. Friday is the deadline for Congress to come to an agreement on the 2011 federal budget. The resolution currently funding the government expires Friday at midnight.

The White House is looking to get Senate Democrats to agree with Republican proposed budget cuts, but there is uncertainty if the House’s most conservative wing, backed by the Tea Party, will accept the Senate’s final legislation.

The Tea Party proposed cuts are too “extreme,” according to New York Democrat Sen. Charles Schumer. This morning Sen. Schumer explains to American Morning’s Kiran Chetry why he thinks the Tea Party’s proposals are hurting negotiations.

What programs would Schumer cut? And, how much money does Congress need to negotiate to come to a deal?

It sure seems like Obama, Schumer and the democrats believe a bankrupt and socolist America is the answer.

Simple. Cut all funding in half. If you cant run it on 50% funding. Cut it completely. Sell battle fleets to our allys. Its time to trim the fat. We still have ICBM's and probably some MIRV's somewhere too. We are fine.

Why did the democrats fail to pass a budget for this year (2010/11) when they controlled all three branches of government?
Senator Schumer says the Tea Party is extreme because they are asking for a balanced budget. Does Senator Schumer support the President's proposed budget which proposes borrowing more money with no cuts?Does Senator Schumer believe that borrowing trillions of dollars every year and adding debt is the right thing to do?
I say pass the 2010/11 budget and get on with the bigger job of balancing the 2011/12 budget.

Dear corrupt and failed liberal, Chuckie Schumer:

A "meat axe" might not be sufficient at this point in time...I believe it requires a back hoe/end loader at the minimum...

(why did you morons in new york elevate this corrupt POS to senator....why do you keep electing him???)

How about they cut the insane amount of money spent on defense. We spend more than all the other countries of the world combined!

Schumer and his attitude is the bigger part of the problem. He is afraid of his special interest contributors. He should embrace the tea party and the American people. If you don't work and contribute to society then you don't receive any of the benefits of being part of society. If you don't work then neither shall you eat. It's very simple.

They can't figure it out because there are too many things to consider. It would be better in my opinion, to erase everything, and start over. Start with a clean slate, different era, different times, different needs. Our society is changing more rapidly than the government can keep up with. Too many programs from the 70's, 80's and 90's that are funded and don't work anyway. Start over and build a new foundation.
