A Utah man moved into a house and found $40,000 in cash stashed in the attic. The man didn't keep the money for himself but instead returned it to the rightful owners.
Our Question of the Day: What would you REALLY do if you found a bag of money?
Let us know what you think. Kiran Chetry and Ali Velshi could read your response on American Morning.

These people who returned the money to their rightful owners can sleep with a good conscience at night because they did the right thing. Sometimes you just know in your heart what you must do.
But what if the money is from a bank robbery?
Seeing it on the news, I would like to think that I would do the right thing and track down the rightful owners, but with the cash in front of me, I wonder if I would start thinking about my own interests? Probably not an easy decision for anybody.
The guy did the right thing in giving the money to the previous owners kids. Imaging how long it took the person to save $40,000 in cash. I would not want that spirit to come back and haunt me for that.
I would consider it a blessing from God and keep it.
If u take it for ur self it is wrong
The right answer is to keep it, because the house is now yours and everything that came along with it.
But, if I knew the house was owned by a senior person, more likely to contact them. But, if there was more owner's chances are I would keep it.
If I knew the previous homeowner was an elderly person I would definitely return the money to his/her family. I the money was found on the street in an envelope that would be a different scenerio completely.
I would give it to the Red Cross–Alabama has been ravaged by tornados. Their is a lot of need here and in the Missip Valley. The ones that want to keep it are a bunch of BUTTHEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agree with you Ali and Kiran, would do the right thing and give it to the rightful heirs.
Also:It's a WELSH PONY in that piece from Wales.Too small for a horse.
The man is crazy I will keep the money it finder keepers and we need the money to pay some debt
I would give it to my "X" Wife.. She got everything else...
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is the right thing, returning the money was the right thing to do
How do you know he did the right thing? Who's to say there wasn't $80K in that acttic?
Money?... We didn't see no steenking money!
I would do just as the Father did. It is very important to all of us to see such examples of pure honesty.
(I would not say anything about the other $960,000 though!)

If I found $100,000 in the attic, I'd say I only found $40,000 and give it back to the original owners. Then I'd make sure the media got out there to cover my good Samaritan story. Who knows? That might work out in my favor too 🙂
At first I would probably want to spend it all, but after the initial excitement and my conscience kicking in I would probably wait and see if anyone came looking for the money. But, If no one comes looking, I would probably just use it to pay of some debt and save for a rainy day.
5% to charity and bank the rest. I would never broadcast it. Doing so could attract bad attention.
Perhaps I would pull a Schwarzenegger and wait ten years, then tell my wife that I spent it all 🙂
Actually, If I just moved in, I would wait a while to see if anyone claims it. But after a while I would keep it.
I will reported, because you'll never know if it can get you in a big problem at the long run. It could be stolen money from a gangster. I live better with a clear conciense.
If I found 40,000 dollars, someone on my street would be 40,000 dollars richer, and that "someone" would be me!
In this case, he is married and has children, a perfect opportunity to demonstrate dignity, Integrity and honesty to your children. The traits that is priceless
I would give it back to many dishonest people n america
I would keep the money. I would consider it part of the purchase.
I would most definitely, and unashamedly KEEP IT! Maybe my moral standings are lying down but, I would sleep really well that night.
The money came with the house–I'd call it Mine Mine Mine!
I will be taking the vacation of my dream!!!
In addition to being the right thing, I would figure that if I tried to spend the found money that it would end up as a curse ...
Bag of money? What bag of money?
If I found big bag of money in the attic? I would get out of there, because I would not be home but in somebody elses house.
I'd keep it. My house my money. I would wait a couple months see if anyone comes by asking if I found anything unusual around the house. If not I keep it and thank God for the blessing
I would use it to pay back the huge amount of student loans I have acquired over these year since the chance of finding a job for a college student right now is about as good as Dominique Strauss-Kahn getting his job at the IMF back. My current plan to deal with my student loan debt involves fleeing Libya and fighting for Gadaffi. Say what you want about warlords and dictators, but they always pay their bills on time.
Wrt cash found in attic – how do we know they REALLY didn't find 80K?
INVEST IT IN A BOOK, ON 'HOW TO CURE THE BAD MORALS OF HIGH PROFILE PEOPLE"
What money?
I would thank the attic by buying it a fresh coat of paint, the rest of the money comes with me!
Who wants to return McKenna's Gold, not me. I would stuff it into the saddle and ride away into the sunset.
I would have kept 10,000 and turned in the rest. The 10,000 would have been for storage.
Considering I am a college student, I would probably pay for my tuition and use the excess to buy a new car!....sorry but anyone who leaves $40,000 obviously does not need it
I Would have done the same thing....
