When it comes to making sure our kids get a good education, many parents might feel like it's a full-time job.
CNN Education contributor Steve Perry spent time with a family whose 14-year-old son was in danger of failing the 9th grade. He recounts his experience in a CNN special called "Education Makeover with Principal Steve Perry" which airs Saturday, June 4th at 2:30pm Eastern time.
Perry joins American Morning this morning to talk with Alina Cho about the series.
Missed the CNN Special "Education Makeover from 6/4 2:30pm.
How can I see the special on line?
It is a full time job. I have a black male 11th grade and I have been fighting the fight since I moved back to NC. I wish I could have someone to come and interview my son. My son know how to advocate for his services. When he do the school site him for Insubordination . My son has ADHD he can do the work. My son love school and 98% of the time he is in school. This year I had to file a civil right complaint and my son has paid for it. The principle son has harrssed and bullied him a long with the staff at the school. My son was sent to the SRO becuase they said he smelled like ,but no findings. My son was sent back to ISS/OSS/STIP from Febuary to May this was a pattern every two weeks which total over 50days.My son want me to keep pushing and help him fight for his education.I will until he is out of school. Thanks
