Why Americans are captivated by the Casey Anthony trial

The Casey Anthony murder trial has captured widespread attention of the American public.

Legal analyst and lawyer Lisa Bloom joins the AM team this morning to talk about America's interest in the case. She's also on to talk about her provocative new book "Think: Straight Talk for Women to Stay Smart in a Dumbed-Down World," where Bloom explores what we can do to reclaim our brains in a tabloid-driven society.

One woman is on trial for murder, and millions of people are lagging in work productivity every day while keeping up with this trial (I actually work). For all those who can't tear themselves away from this trial, what is this saying about the vultures hovering over the courthouse and around their televisions and computers? Perhaps there are some who are sicker than Casey and are afraid there just might be a little bit of Casey in them and somehow it's going to be found out. I don't know what else would account for this obsession.

Ms. Bloom's remark that US women can name more Kardashians than countries in which the US is at war is simply specious.

There ARE more Kardashians (3 sisters) than countries in which the US is actively at war (Afghanistan and Iraq).

Please, Ms. Bloom, use an indicator that actually has some meaning. There must be one.

Not so much the captivated audience, but, the brazen distortion of the truth that we keep thinking "what next" from these defense lawyers?

We watched another pychopathic person OJ that got away with murder. Travesty of justice.
There are just some people, that in their minds, they are not guilty of anything, putting the blame on always someone else, even though it leads to murder of a small dependant child.
She was arguing with mom, she needed a baby sitter she duct taped the child, and maybe threw her into the trunk. The child scared out of her tiny mind threw up and perhaps asparated and chocked or was the victim of heat. Mom knew she had done wrong by hiding the body.
Notice how the child is never happy even singing. Pics with mom were all about mom in front of camera. In Cayce's mind, she has convinced herself she did not do it. But we all know the truth.
    sad, very sad.

Please stop judging this woman. It seems like everyone is enjoying a show. This is morbid. "Do not judge, and you will not be judge" She is paying the price of her acts by losing her freedom, enough is enough!!!

It's hard to believe that a mother could party on with life as normal knowing all the while that her child is dead and discarded in the woods 15 houses down from where she and her parents live. There is no defense for this offense. I don't know if this individual has mental problems but it really hard to think about the fact that a jury could possibly set her free or hand her a lesser sentence after seeing and listening to the evidence in this case.
