A newly energized Rick Perry came out swinging at last night's debate – throwing accusation after accusation at Mitt Romney.  In fact, the Romney camp says Perry's goal was to "kill Mitt."

Today we're watching:

* The Dow, NASDAQ and S&P 500 all rose late in the day yesterday after reports that France and Germany might expand the size of its Eurozone bailout fund.
* Apple missed analyst expectations for the first time since at least 2004. The tech giant made $6.6 billion dollars in the third quarter, saying that the slowdown is a result of people waiting for the new iPhone.
* Social security recipients are expected to see a 3.5% increase next year when the cost of living boost kicks in. However, many may not notice the increase because of a hike in Medicare premiums.

Ron Paul explains his 'Plan to Restore America'

Presidential hopeful Ron Paul unveiled his economic plan yesterday, saying that he would balance the federal budget in his first year in office if elected.

Paul said that he'd accomplish this task by cutting one trillion dollars in government spending while eliminating five cabinet-level departments of government, including HUD and the the Departments of Energy, Commerce, Interior and Education. Under his "Plan to Restore America," Paul also would move to eliminate all foreign aid and war spending.

Paul currently stands in fourth place behind Romney, Cain and Perry for the candidate most likely to win the GOP nomination. He joins Carol Costello on American Morning today to discuss his new economic plan and to weigh in on what his chances are in this race ahead of tonight's CNN Western Republican Presidential Debate.

Rancic's breast cancer diagnosis raises questions about in vitro fertilization

Fans of the "Giuliana & Bill" reality show are aware that E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic has been trying to get pregnant with the help of in vitro fertilization (IVF).

However, as Rancic was about to try a third round of assisted reproduction, her new doctor insisted that she get a mommogram first, even though she is only 36 years old. The screening revealed she had early stage breast cancer.

Senior medical correspondent Elizabeth Cohen joins American Morning today to discuss Rancic's diagnosis and the potential link between cancer and fertility treatments.

New polling shows Romney, Cain vying for top spot among GOP presidential hopefuls

According to new CNN/ORC polling, Herman Cain and Mitt Romney are vying for the top spot among the 2012 GOP presidential candidates. The two candidates will join the other GOP presidential hopefuls tonight to go head to head at the Republican debate in Las Vegas, co-hosted by CNN and the Western Republican Leadership Conference.

Although these types of debates have been happening frequently across the country, CNN senior political analyst Ron Brownstein says that they are having an impact on voters. In fact, Brownstein calls the current campaign season a "nation audition" for the GOP candidates.

Today on American Morning, Brownstein joins Carol Costello in Las Vegas to weigh in on the latest polling numbers and to discuss what he is looking forward to at tonight's debate.

Herman Cain's presidential campaign is hot right now.  Cain's amicable personality and catchy, unorthodox policy proposals have captured the attention of the electorate.

In fact, a new CNN/ORC poll shows  that the former Georgia business executive is locked in a dead heat with Mitt Romney for the Republican presidential nomination.
