(CNN) Jurors in the Casey Anthony capital murder trial ended their first day of deliberations Monday without reaching a decision as to whether she is guilty of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2008.
Deliberations began after prosecutors completed closing arguments in the case and the panel received instructions from Orange County Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr. They will resume deliberations at 8:30 a.m. today.
Sunny Hostin, CNN legal contributor, and Paul Callan, criminal defense attorney, join American Morning today to discuss the jury deliberations and how the jury composition may influence the outcome of the case.
Jurors are expected to begin deliberations today at the Casey Anthony trial to determine if Casey killed her daughter Caylee.
Prosecutors in her capital murder trial told jurors in closing arguments Sunday that evidence in the case points to only one conclusion - guilty, while defense lawyer Jose Baez stressed that there are still questions left unanswered in the case.
Sunny Hostin, CNN legal contributor, joins American Morning today to talk about the closing arguments and the tension between prosecutor Jeff Ashton and defense attorney Jose Baez.
Casey Anthony's defense rested Thursday in her capital murder trial without calling her to testify, ending weeks of speculation about whether she would take the stand in her own defense.
The judge in the Anthony trial, Orange County Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr., told the courtroom that rebuttal witnesses will likely conclude Friday and closing arguments will be held Saturday morning, with jury instructions to follow and deliberations likely to begin by that afternoon.
Sunny Hostin, CNN legal contributor and Vinnie Politan, host of Special Report Prime News/HLN, join Kiran Chetry and Ali Velshi on American Morning today to discuss the future of the trial and if the defense made its case.
Wednesday was a highly emotional day in the Casey Anthony trial, with Casey's father George Anthony sobbing on the stand when testifying about his suicide attempt and his reaction to the news that investigators recovered Caylee's remains.
Today, on day 32 of the trial, all eyes will be on the court as we wait to see if Casey Anthony will take the witness stand.
CNN legal contributor Sunny Hostin joins American Morning today to talk about what impact George Anthony's testimony will have on the trial and to discuss the possibility that the defense will rest today.
The defense in Casey Anthony's murder trial continued to present their case yesterday, calling some big witnesses to the stand to testify, including meter reader Roy Kronk and Casey's former fiance, Jessee Grund.
Although it took place after the jury had left the court room, Grund testified that Casey told him that she had been groped by her brother, a development that may have the biggest impact on the case.
Sunny Hostin, CNN legal contributor, discusses these testimonies and the importance they played in potentially advancing the defense's case.
FROM CNN WIRES – On court today in the Casey Anthony Trial, the meter reader who discovered Caylee Anthony's remains could testify as a defense witness in the murder trial of her mother Casey, his attorney said. Roy Kronk has been ordered to report to court at the start of the day, according to his attorney David Evans.
In developments Monday, Anthony, who is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter in 2008, was determined competent to proceed with her capital murder trial after she was examined by two psychologists and a psychiatrist over the weekend, the judge said.
But the question on everyone's mind is still the same: Will Casey Anthony testify?
Sunny Hostin with "In Session" joins the American Morning team to discuss.
