Dead bird mystery deepens

Coincidence or conspiracy? That's the question many of you are asking after another 500 birds were found dead yesterday just outside of Pointe Coupee Parish in Louisiana. This comes after over 5,000 red-winged blackbirds and starlings had fallen from the sky only about 300 miles away in Beebe, Ark. It is a strange phenomenon but as the National Wildlife Federation’s Doug Inkley explains this morning on American Morning, it is not enough to be considered a conspiracy.

'Wild Within' host eats what he kills in new Travel Channel show

Forget the supermarket, or even the farmer’s market—Steven Rinella is getting his food straight from the source, the great outdoors.

This morning on American Morning, Rinella tells AM's Kiran Chetry and Jim Acosta about his lifelong passion for fishing and hunting, and how the show is inspired by a recent cultural trend: knowing where the food on our kitchen tables comes from.

“The Wild Within” premieres on Sunday, January 9 on the Travel Channel. Each episode ends with grand feast, but first viewers get to travel with Rinella to various destinations across the globe, such as Scotland, Alaska and Guyana.

Fireworks may have sparked massive blackbird deaths, Ark. official says

(CNN) - Arkansas game officials hope testing scheduled to begin Monday will solve the mystery of why up to 5,000 birds fell from the sky just before midnight New Year's Eve. The birds - most of which were dead - were red-winged blackbirds and starlings, and they were found within a one-mile area of Beebe, about 40 miles northeast of Little Rock, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said. Birds fell over about a one-mile area, the commission said in a statement.

So what led to the mysterious mass blackbird deaths? This morning, Keith Stephens, spokesman, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, tells Kiran Chetry and Jim Acosta why local New Year's Eve celebrations or weather may be to blame.
