The stories that will be making news later today:

Former President Bill Clinton's Mp3 player is up for grabs online through Tonic dot-com. Just over seven hours left in the auction. Bids have topped 12-hundred bucks. All proceeds go to help music programs in areas hit by hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005

First Lady Michelle Obama makes her first official trip outside of Washington today traveling to North Carolina. At about 12:45 pm eastern she'll tour the Fort Bragg military base and meet with families. At 4:30 eastern she speaks to community groups in Fayetteville that provide support to the soldiers and their families.

The three American hostages held for more than five years in Colombia's jungles will receive the civilian equivalent of the purple heart. The Defense of Freedom Medal honors Defense Department employees and contractors injured or killed in the line of duty.

The stories that will be making news later today:

The shooting rampage in southern Alabama. We're expecting more news conferences throughout the day. Here's what we've learned this morning. Police say the killer, Michael McLendon, took his own life after killing 10 people. Among the fatalities, his mother, his grandparents, and the wife and child of a sheriff's deputy.

It's all systems go for tonight's planned launch of the space shuttle "Discovery." It's set to lift-off at 9:20 eastern from the Kennedy Space Center. The "Discovery" astronauts will deliver a final set of solar arrays to the International Space Station.

At 4 p-m eastern First Lady Michelle Obama joins Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the State Department to celebrate International Women's Day. They'll present the third annual award for International Women of Courage to eight women from around the world.

Asian markets surged overnight. Japan's Nikkei index was up nearly five percent. There's hope for a two-day winning streak on the Dow after a 380-point jump monday.

The stories that will be making news later today:

Vice President Joe Biden is in Brussels this morning. He's there to consult with U.S. allies on Afghanistan and Pakistan. Biden will hold a joint press conference with NATO's Secretary General around 7:20 am eastern and he'll meet with senior leaders of the European Union around 8:30 am eastern.

Thousands of Tibetans and their supporters will march across the Brooklyn Bridge to the United Nations General Assembly building in New York City. Today marks 50 years since Tibetans rose up to protest China's invasion of their homeland, which forced the Dalai Lama into exile.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hopes the 410-billion dollar spending bill will clear the Senate today. John McCain's attempt to strip the bill of its earmarks was defeated by Democrats and Republicans. The White House says President Obama will sign the measure despite its more than eight-thousand pet projects.

The stories that will be making news later today:

A new study finds the number of Americans who call themselves Christian has dropped more than 11 percent in the past 18 years. The survey of more than 54-thousand people also found 15 percent of Americans say they have no religious identification, a category that increased in every state.

There's a court hearing this morning for a Tennessee college student accused of hacking into Gov. Sarah Palin's private e-mail account. Prosecutors say David Kernell accessed the Alaska governor's Yahoo account after she was selected as John McCain's running mate.They say he reset the password and posted it online along with screen grabs of Palin's e-mail. Kernell is the son of a democratic lawmaker in Tennessee.

Investors bracing for more stock market turmoil. U.S. stocks are set to open lower today. Folks who see the glass half-full say there's never been a better time for bargains
