FDA Avandia hearings panel decides fate of diabetes drug

An FDA panel is will begin hearings on Avandia today. The drug that's safety has been questioned since 2007 and could be pulled from the market. Steven Nissen has authored a study finding it could increase the risk of heart attacks. He spoke to CNN's Kiran Chetry Tuesday.

Vets exposed to HIV & hepatitis from dental tools

(CNN) – Over 1,800 veterans who went to a Missouri VA hospital are now facing possible exposure to HIV and hepatitis. And we now know why: improperly cleaned dental tools. But hospital officials say laziness wasn't a factor. Missouri Democrat Rep. Russ Carnahan is calling for a full investigation and he joined us on Thursday's American Morning to explain.

Obesity rates spike in 28 states

(CNN) – New evidence suggests Americans are not improving when it comes to a healthy weight. Adult obesity rates shot up in 28 states over the past year. There are obesity provisions built in to the new health care reform law and the White House is crusading against childhood obesity.
