Food Columnist Mark Bittman protests budget cuts by fasting for four days

Mark Bittman, New York Times Food and Opinion Columnist, has just concluded a four-day fast.

Bittman stopped eating Monday as part of a national campaign to call attention to proposed budget cuts that would slash food assistance for America's poor. Bittman talks to Kiran Chetry and Christine Romans about his participation in the fast.

Missing Bronx Zoo cobra found in Reptile House

New York City residents can breathe a deep sigh of relief knowing the Bronx Zoo's missing cobra has been found.

The Egyptian Cobra, which had been missing for seven days, caused a media frenzy; the cobra immediately shot to superstardom on Twitter, garnering more than 200,000 followers. But the mystery of the missing cobra came to an end Thursday when Bronx Zoo workers found the elusive reptile in the zoo's Reptile House.

Jim Breheny is the Director of the Bronx Zoo and Senior VP of Living Institutions, Wildlife Conservation Society. Breheny talks to American Morning about the zoo's quest to find the missing cobra.

Rep. Rogers on Libya: 'We wouldn't know who we're arming'

The White House briefed U.S. lawmakers Wednesday on the nation's operations in Libya. The briefing came amidst news of CIA presence in the North African nation and reports that the U.S. is arming Libyan rebels, a tactic some lawmakers disagree with.

Representative Mike Rogers (R-MI), Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, says he would be cautious about arming rebels right now. Rep. Rogers talks to Kiran Chetry and Christine Romans about the briefings and the latest out of Libya.

Could natural gas be the answer to America's call for clean, safe energy?

Amid safety and health concerns brought to light by the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, the push for a nuclear energy renaissance in the United States has waned.

As a result, Americans are looking for other sources of clean, cheap energy, and some people are pointing to shale gas as the solution. A clean and cheap fuel, many are touting shale as the transitional fuel to renewable energy; however, critics say the process of drilling for shale gas is dangerous.
