Pharma companies share data to speed Alzheimer's research
(CNN) – A massive, all-out effort is happening to improve the treatment of brain diseases like Alzheimer's. Eleven American pharmaceutical companies – typically competitors – are pooling data in hopes of making a medical breakthrough. Dr. Raymond Woosley is the founder of the Critical Path Institute, which is spearheading this effort. He joined us on Monday's American Morning to explain the unusual arrangement.

Ethnic violence continues in Kyrgyzstan
(CNN) – A "humanitarian catastrophe" is how one Red Cross official describes the worst ethnic violence Kyrgyzstan has seen in decades. At least 114 people have reportedly died in the bloodshed. More than 1400 others have been wounded, and tens of thousands of people have been forced to flee. Our Matthew Chance has the report.
Search continues at Arkansas campground
(CNN) – The search through muddy, mangled piles of debris will continue today for one person, still missing, after flash floods tore through camp grounds in Arkansas. Police say they found a 19th victim yesterday. Our Casey Wian reports from the command center in Langley, Arkansas.
Obama heads to Gulf, demands plan
(CNN) – As oil continues to foul the Gulf of Mexico, BP faces a midnight deadline. The White House is demanding a plan today for speeding up containment of the leaking crude. Exactly how much crude is leaking? That mystery could be cleared up later this week now that BP has installed pressure sensors inside the ruptured well yesterday. Our Chris Lawrence has the latest.

Obama to address nation on oil disaster Tuesday night
(CNN) – President Barack Obama will visit the Gulf states affected by the oil spill on Monday and Tuesday and then address the nation on Tuesday night from the White House on the next steps in responding to the environmental catastrophe, his senior adviser said Sunday.
On his fourth visit to the Gulf region since the disaster began on April 20, Obama will make stops in Theodore, Alabama; Gulfport, Mississippi, and Pensacola, Florida, according to senior administration officials.
After returning from the two-day trip, Obama will make a televised statement from the Oval Office on the night before he is scheduled to meet with top BP officials.
David Axelrod, the senior adviser to Obama, said the president would push BP to create a BP-funded escrow account that will pay for damage claims from the worsening oil spill. In addition, Axelrod said, the plan would call for an independent third party to handle the claims process.
"The president will use every legal device at his disposal to make sure that this money is escrowed and that there is an independent administrator so that claims are not slow-walked, people can get the relief they need in a timely fashion and that we don't create more victims from this terrible disaster," Axelrod told reporters.
